I just found out, right as I got home from work, that my snake, Slytherin, of 16+ years, died today. She has been struggling with healing from her uterine infection since June of last year. Right as she was starting to get better after all of her antibiotic treatments, something else would happen and her health would plummet. We have been battling for the past 4 months to help her gain her strength back to eat on her own again, but between lack of proper funding to get more treatments for her, and her immune system crashing, it has been one step forward, two steps back. I know some people don't think much about snakes, or don't like them period, but, she was a part of this family since I was a child in elementary school. She, and my late cat Teddy Bear, were my childhood pets, friends, and family. It pains me to lose not one, but both of these pals of mine, both around the same age when they passed, but at different periods of my life. This loss has hit me hard, and I'm struggling to keep control of my emotions, especially since I have work and responsibilities to deal with and all I want to do is curl up into a ball and cry my eyes out for days, if not weeks.

Oh no! I love all pets, and I'm sorry We're all here and understand for you! I like the name as well <3 Anyway, that's really sad There are lots of people out there that could help, even websites for pet loss, but otherwise, turn to people who get it and understand and will help you. You'll feel better soon.

Thank u Flame. I really appreciate that. I named her that cuz I got her for Christmas right after the second HP movie came out on VHS, and she was such a sweetheart. She never bit or struck out at me or anyone else (unlike Hiss, my previous snake before her, or Jack, my dad's snake, 6 yrs her jr) and loved to just curl up and enjoy being handled and cuddled. I know it'll take time, but the pain of losing a loved one never gets any easier with each passing member. But thanks again for the comforting words <3

Aww no! I know how you feel, losing a pet. One of my favorite cats (yet the grumpyiest) had died of old age while I was at school a few years ago. Then sometime last year when I was visiting family, I found out that another one of the beloved cats had passed away. My two other dogs died a bit peacefully, one died in their sleep and the other was sadly put down.
I know how you feel my dude, it’s always the most painful too lose what you love, especially a pet.
