It all started in Savageclan. There was multiple kits, it was a good new leaf so far, Goldenfern and Copperheart gave birth to three beautiful kits each, they decided together as queens for the names, since both their mates had sadly died in battle. The three in Goldenfern’s litter were named Flowerkit, Singekit, and Rustkit (One shecat two toms). The three in Copperheart’s litter were name Lilykit, Shadowkit, and tiny little Eaglekit whom sadly died a few days later (One Tom two shecats). The kits peacefully grew up together, life seemed perfect for six moons.
But then came the day they were all going to be apprentices, and here is where we are going to focus on Shadestar’s parents, Singekit and Shadowkit. Singekit now Singepaw, got a tomcat warrior named Boulderfoot as a mentor, whom was better in battle then anything else and was very mean. Shadowkit now Shadowpaw got Littletail as a mentor, another Tomcat who was better at running, not very good at battle or anything else besides running.
So their training began, you could often find Singepaw and Shadowpaw together, but it was hard, their mentos kept separating them, always out training them hard dawn to dusk, both coming back so tired that they would pass out in their nests. Boulderfoot was very mean to Singepaw, constant on him about every little mistake he was. Shadowpaw on the other hand, had the opposite problem, he mentor Littletail would take her out but just run aeound the forest telling her to keep up.
Both Shadowpaw and Singepaw were only getting half or less then half of the training that they needed. So, even after all the training they had all day, they would sneak out together at night and teach eachother. This went on for about a moon without them getting caught. Eventually their mentors found out, and went straight to Barkstar about it, getting both of them In trouble, they were confined to camp for a moon, and their ceremonies would be postponed for two moons. Shadowpaw and Singepaw were both irritated and angry with their leaders choice.
The moons passed, and they trained with their mentors, even if they didn’t teach them everything they needed. The day of their assessments finally came, long awaited by them and their sibilants who were already made warriors two moons ago. Singepaw nailed the battle part of the assessment, but missed a few catches when hunting. Shadowpaw missed one catch but did ok on the battle part.
Lucky enough, they both became warriors, but had a special request for their names that angered the entire clan. They just wanted to be called Shadow and Singe. And their names were excepted, but not all of their clanmates did. They became warriors finally, they would live for moons and moons to come, and they did, life went on like normal, and finally being warriors, the two shunned within their clan because of their names, became really close, and eventually began to love eachother.
One day, when Shadow was out on a border patrol, she scented something funny, a scent she didn’t know. This scent kept getting stronger and stronger over the next few days. Singe eventually spotted what looked like a giant fox at first, but they then called them mountain lions. These mountain lions began to pick the clan off one by one....
Their leader was taken by these lions and was easily stripped of his remaining lives. Shadow and Singe looked at eachother and Shadow spoke “This clan has no future, if we stay here.. we will die, we must go now” Shadow and Singe spoke to their clanmates, saying that they were going to see where the mountain lions were, but they never returned, their clanmates accepted them dead. We know that Shadow and Singe left, they wanted a new life, away from the chaos of the mountain lions.
So they walked and walked down more, for days on end not stopping. They eventually came to an island, but surprisingly scented another clan, they decided to stay on the beach where the two legs came, they always fed them, and it was better then starving and seeing your family being murdered I guess. They built a home and eventually Shadow announced that she was going to have kits.
Moons later the kits were born... there was only two, the couple decided to name them Shade, for the shade that the trees provided in the home they left behind, and Hollow, for the name of the woods they left behind, but knew someday would be safe to return to. The kits grew to about the age of an apprentice, and Shadow and Singe knew it was time to leave, they took them each to a different clan, Shade to Stoneclan and Hollow joined a clan but ran away soon after...
Shade was confused as to why her parents left her alone with all these random scary looking cats... “Is this my home now?” She spoke in a tiny voice. A loud powerful voice spoke, “Yes, I’m your leader, Featherstar, and now you will be known as Shadepaw... Welcome to Stoneclan..”
.:Stoneclan:.
Shadepaw was shown the dens soon after her arrival. Featherstar announced that she would have some to teach her the clan ways, and how to be a warrior. Her mentor they called it was Bearclaw, the deputy of Stoneclan. Shadepaw met the first set of cats, they were a trio, and they were all warriors. They went by the names Emberblaze, Gingersplash, which they were twins, and Foxtail who was Emberblaze’s mate. Shadepaw took an instant liking to Gingersplash, since she always seemed so happy.
The first day of training arrived, Shadestar was taught the hunting crouch, side-to-side claw, and how to move around on the rocks by jumping on and off and around them. Bearclaw was a very good mentor, but she always seemed too busy for Shadepaw, her first training lesson ended up being her only lesson with Bearclaw. Featherstar saw that the pair wasn’t working out, and all Shadepaw was doing was getting in trouble. So Featherstar gave her Gingersplash as a mentor aka the apprentices favorite since she trained everyone.
First day with Gingersplash was similar to the first day with Bearclaw. But Gingersplash figured out that Shadepaw was a fantastic hunter already, and she already came up with a certain way to catch birds... Shadepaw would crouch down like normal, slowly gettting closer and closer to the bird, and at the last moment, jumping up and scaring the bird so Shadepaw would have to jump up and catch it...
Moons passed as Shadepaw trained and trained, getting better and better. One day, Gingersplash let Shadepaw have a practice fight with her, freestyle, meaning Shadepaw could do whatever moves she wanted. Shadepaw took it as doing anything she wanted, she always trained with her claws out, no matter how many times they told her to put them away. Not many people have seen the way Shadepaw fights, but she starts by circling and based off the opponents moves, she makes her moves from there. That one day where there was a freestyle battle against Gingersplash, Shadepaw ended up claiming her own little victory, but she did use her claws and injure Gingersplash a bit.
Shadepaw trained and trained, but the other apprentices she seemed to grow up with already became warriors and she was still an apprentice. Gingersplash told her it was her inability to listen to directions that kept her an apprentice. So, immediately it seemed, Shadepaw started acting better, but of course still had her own little temper. Since Shadepaw knew she would be an apprentice for a little while longer, she started taking a liking to one of the tom-cat apprentices, his name was Duskpaw. They soon fell in love, but training and running away from hurricanes kept them apart for long periods of time.
It was eventually Shadepaw’s turn to become a warrior, but with her and Duskpaw already planning to be mates, they wanted to become warriors together.... but Featherstar seemed to be so busy and disappearing for long periods of time. He rest of the clan started called Shadepaw by her warrior name Shadestep since Featherstar always got so close to naming them both warriors, but then ran off to do something.
Now Shadestep, but technically still Shadepaw, Shadestep spent lonely days in camp, just hunting over and over.... she didn’t see Duskpaw now Duskfall or Featherstar for long periods of time, nor did she see much of anyone else. She felt alone again... The one day that Featherstar did return, ah shared the news that she was leaving the clan, and she would grow up to be an amazing leader like Featherstar. So she left, everyone she knew, and everyone that felt like family to her, even Duskfall, her future mate, decided to stay in Stoneclan.
Shadestep left, becoming Shadestar of Nightclan, this is how it all began...
.:Nightclan:.
At first, Shadestep now Shadestar created Nightclan, not having anyone, but she had a few cats that were willing to join her, the one that has stayed by her side till now, goes by the name of Midnightsong. Nightclan’s territory was originally all of ever and the birch forest. They had a beautiful camp, a river ran through it, there was plenty of space, and a really really big high rock that Shadestar stood upon.
As Nightclan reached a half of a moon old, the other clans started wandering onto their territory and claiming it as theirs. Shadestar was furious of course, but thankfully Nightclan grew very quickly. So they could chase off the trespassers. Shadestar realized that the ever glades were very big and they were a hard territory to keep, so eventually, the huge clan moved to Hollow Woods and gave up the ever glades. Yes, the territory was smaller, but it was easier to protect and most of the cats felt better under the trees.
Peaceful moons passed, until a clan that went by the name of Shadowclan came along, their leader was Riverstar.. at first Shadestar thought nothing about them and kept the regular patrols. But soon after, the Shadowclan cats started a border skirmish, starting an argument that soon turned into a full out battle, at the time, Shadestar had an amazing deputy that went by the name of Lionclaw, he was very skilled in battle...
This battle went on for moons, the fights contained more and more bloodshed each time. Shadestar said that this was enough, so she called in her friends from Stoneclan and Stormclan, the leader of Stormclan was once a warrior in Nightclan. The Shadowclan cats were greatly outnumbered and were quickly surrounded, we learned that Riverstar wanted us dead because she wanted the forest... Lionclaw and a few others chased Riverstar into the mountains, quickly taking 4 of her precious lives.
The battle ended after the rest of Shadowclan heard she had been killed, they retreated and left Nightclan alone, that very night, Nightclan celebrated its victory. What we didn’t know, was that Lionclaw was up to something... he soon left Nightclan after the battle ended and became Lionstar of Frostclan. Half of Nightclan left to go follow Lionstar... Shadestar quickly became depressed, her family left her in the dust, but she still had the loyal ones with her. Frostclan took the golden forest and the forgotten fields, which were far away from Nightclan territory.
Shadestar began to speak with Lionstar, eventually making a deal with him that seemed good at the time. The deal was that Lionstar would give up his leadership and come back to Nightclan as deputy. But, Shadestar had to move to forgotten and change territories. Shadestar agreed as she would be getting her family back...
This plan quickly backfired, but there was also a good side. Lionclaw spread lies about Shadestar, saying that she broke her promise and saying that she said that she wanted a different deputy the next day after Lionclaw came back to Nightclan. When he did leave, he went to Shadowclan, which took over Hollow Woods, the enemy clan at the time. Shadestar was mad at him for telling lies and told him that he was never welcome in Nightclan again.
After he was gone, Winterfury became deputy, she wa very good at her job. After moving to forgotten, Shadestar learned of another clan that lived near by, they went by the name of Skyclan, and wanted Nightclan to disappear, for all the cats to be dead. They promised to attack, and so they did after the next gathering. Nightclan easily won the battle because there was only a few cats in Skyclan that attacked.
When the battle was won, Shadestar told everyone that she was expecting kits, she later had the two kits naming them Sparkkit and Nightkit, Sparkkit was become Sparkpaw before being killed but foxes and Nightkit would become Nightfury, whom is still alive till this day. Shadestar watched her kits grow, she was happy... Shadowclan’s leader came to Shadestar one day and warned her about Echostar, the new Stormclan leader, and he wanted Shadestar dead, it was a bloody battle and no lives were lost thankfully, but Shadowclan came to Nightclan’s side and fought, they won yet again, they seemed unstoppable.
Weirdly enough, Shadestar was expecting again after he battle was won. This time, she only had one kit, which she name Leopardkit. Nightclan lives in peace for many moons, Skyclan still being annoying but was ignored by most.
There was a meeting one day, Nightclan and Shadowclan were present, this meeting was to deal with Skyclan once and for all, Shadestar didn’t want to be part of it, but before she left, she heard an ear piercing yowl as Riverstar fell off the cliff, landing and soon dying afterwards. The deputy of Shadowclan soon disappeared and Shadowclan quickly crumbled. Nightclan left the forgotten fields at once, and returned to their forest home, never to leave it again.
What Shadestar didn’t know when her only son Leopardpaw left, that he would become a leader, and the clan he lead was Thunderclan, which soon, Leopardstar’s intentions were to destroy Nightclan as well. Why is that you mah ask? Because Winterfury, the past deputy of Nightclan, was spreading a story, a story that Shadestar got all of her 9 lives back, which wasn’t true. Winterfury soon lead a big group of cats against Shadestar, many attempted to kill her, and the cats that Shadestar thought were loyal to her, believed the lies and left once more..
This went on and on, the constant fighting and stress and losing cats, all of it. Until Shadestar finally got the truth out, and all of the fighting came to a quick halt, everything stopped, no body was mad, the cats returned to Nightclan and Leopardstar changed his name to Leopardmoon and came to Nightclan, glad to be home once more.
Peace returned to the clans for a long while. Until one day, Shadestar want having it, she was stressed out and all these other clans weren’t fighting her clan, but they kept picking on them and saying things that weren’t true. Shadestar left Nightclan, leaving it up to Flameheart to run Nightclan. Shadestar never found out what was going on, but what she did know, was that she left, her family and everything, gone.
Shadestar left for the mountains, soon finding the Wild Wisp Tribe, this is where she took a break for awhile, and this is how the story went...
To be continued....
But then came the day they were all going to be apprentices, and here is where we are going to focus on Shadestar’s parents, Singekit and Shadowkit.
